Dr. Rohit Shetty completed his residency in ophthalmology at the St. Johns Medical College to obtain the Diplomate of the National Board. He obtained his FRCS Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom in 2006. Dr. Shetty has close to 100 publications in peer reviewed indexed journals. Dr. Rohit recently completed his PhD Scholar from Maastricht University, Netherlands on Understanding the Clinical, Immunological and Genetic Molecular Mechanism of Keratoconus. He has a special interest in the management of keratoconus, tear film abnormalities and biomarkers. He has introduced cutting edge technology at Narayana Nethralaya and is spearheading treatment for challenging eye disorders. Dr. Shetty has raised the bar for clinicians venturing into research by setting up several labs like GROW, NOVEL, ‘Multinomics Diagnostics Lab’ and ANGEL, the advanced novel genetic evaluating lab. In this year’s annual conference of the All India Ophthalmological Society, Dr. Rohit won the prestigious Col. Rangachari award for the overall best paper of the conference for his work on “Is Inflammation Driving Keratoconus? – A Holistic Study Of Molecular Pathways”. The American Academy of Ophthalmology recently conferred an achievement award to Dr. Rohit Shetty for the distinguished services he has rendered over the years to the programs of the society.
Dr. Ashwin is currently a consultant in the vitro-retina department of Narayana Nethralaya and is also a PhD Scholar in Maastricht University, Netherlands. He is involved in setting up the Centre for Advanced Fundus Expertise (CAFX) at NN1. He has completed MBBS from Sion Hospital, Mumbai, DNB from Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai and fellowship in Vitreo-retina from Narayana Nethralaya, Bangalore and RGUHS. He has received the Gold Medal in Neuro-ophthalmology in 2012 in Sankara Nethralaya. He has published a number of peer reviewed articles in the field of retinal oximetry and presented at various national and international meetings and is also a reviewer for international journals and has authored chapters in post graduate text books. He has a keen interest in retinal imaging and has also worked with institutes like IIT Madras and IISc as a retinal expert.
Dr Anupama Kiran Kumar completed her basic medical education from KS Hegde Medical College Mangalore, Karnataka in 2005 .she went on to do her post graduation-DNB from Narayana Nethralaya Super Specialty Eye Hospital followed by a Fellowship in Vitreo-retinal surgery from the same institute. She went on to join Narayana Nethralaya as a Vitreo-retina consultant in 2015. She has presented papers in several national and international conferences and has won award at these forums. Notable among these being “Best PG Presentation” in the Karnataka state conference in 2010 and “AMJAD RAHI PRIZE” for (Best Oral Presentation in Clinical Sciences) at IERG (ARVO India chapter) held at Hyderabad in 2012. She has publications in international peer reviewed journals and a text book chapter as well.Her areas of interests includes diabetic retinopathy and neuro-ophthalmology.
Dr. Chaitra Jayadev, a fellowship trained vitreoretina surgeon, is currently a consultant in Narayana Nethralaya Eye Institute, a tertiary care center in Bangalore, India. She has been trained in Aditya Jyot Eye Hospital Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai and Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute and completed an International Council for Ophthalmology (ICO) fellowship at UCLA, United States. In addition to her clinical duties and responsibilities, she is actively involved in translational research and multiple collaborative projects involving not only her own area of specialization but encompassing all other major subspecialties of Ophthalmology including basic sciences. She has served the role of Assistant Editor and Associate Editor of the Indian Journal of Ophthalmology from 2006-2017, during which she took care of the online manuscript management. Dr. Jayadev is the founder editor of the Journal of Vision Sciences, the official journal of the Karnataka Ophthalmic Society. Dr Chaitra has approximately 60 publications in peer-review indexed journals. She has contributed chapters in internationally renowned textbooks like Parsons textbook of Ophthalmology and Myron Yanoff’s Text on Advances in Ophthalmology. She has to her credit, several state, national and international conference presentations.

He completed his post-graduation & Retina training at the Postgraduate Institute (Chandigarh), where he received the Kataria Gold medal from the Prime Minister. He has completed his international fellowship in pediatric retina at a premier center in Michigan, USA. He has also completed the fellowship exam of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, Glasgow, UK. He has several national & international presentations to his credit including several publications and book chapters in his specialty. He has received the All -India Young Researcher award in 2005. He is an Adult and Pediatric Vitreo-Retinal surgeon, and has a special interest in Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) and other pediatric retinal diseases. He is currently a consultant in Pediatric vitreoretina at Narayana Nethralaya-1, Rajaji Nagar, Bangalore.
Dr Manish Nagpal completed his Ophthalmology training at M & J institute of Ophthalmology, Ahmedabad in 1996 and further went on to accomplish the FRCS (Ed) at UK in 1997. He is practicing as a Vitreo Retinal Consultant at Retina Foundation, Ahmedabad, since 1999. He has been awarded the prestigious Distinguished Services Award by the APAO in 2007 and the Achievement award of APAO in 2012 .He is also a recipient of the prestigious Achievement award of American Academy of Ophthalmology for the year 2009 followed by the AAO International Ophthalmologist Education Award in 2011. He is a recipient of the prestigious ASRS Honor award for the year 2013 and the ASRS Senior Honor award in 2015. He has a keen interest in making surgical videos and has received the prestigious Rhett Buckler award for the best surgical video 5 years in a row, at the annual ASRS meetings . He has also received the Best video award at the film festival held at the 25th APAO meet held at Beijing, China , Sept 2010. He has also won the C S Reshmi award for the best video presentation at the annual AIOS meeting held at Cochin , Feb 2012 . He has been awarded the Best paper of the retina sessions at All India Ophthalmological society 4 times including the S Natarajan award. He has been a Principle investigator for various global multicentric trials (Macugen 1013, VIEW 2, DEGAS and MONET).
He heads the Vitreoretinal services at Narayana Nethralaya, Bangalore and is one of the most experienced retinal surgeons. He completed his basic medical education from SRTR Medical College, Ambejogai, Maharashtra and post graduation from Government Medical College, Aurangabad in 1996, followed by a fellowship in Vitreoretina at Medical Research Foundation, Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai, in 1997-98. He completed an observership in the Academic Medical Centre, Amsterdam, and the University Hospital, Essen, Germany in 2003. He completed his fellowship examination of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (FRCS) Glasgow, UK. He has several national and international presentations to his credit. His interests include diabetic retinopathy, vascular occlusions, choroidalneovascular membrane, and minimally invasive vitreous surgery (MIVS). He is a member of the Vitreo Retinal Society of India, Trauma Society of India, All India Ophthalmological Society, Maharashtra Ophthalmology Society, Karnataka ophthalmological society. Under his able guidance the department of Vitreoretina at Narayana Nethralaya has grown in leaps and bounds both academically and in terms of patient care.
Dr Padmamalini Mahendradas got her M.B.B.S degree from Stanley Medical College, Chennai, Postgraduate Diploma from Regional Institute of Ophthalmology and Government Ophthalmic Hospital, Chennai Medical College, Chennai (where she stood first in the Tamilnadu Dr. M. G. R. Medical University), and Diplomate of National Board from Prabha Eye Clinic and Research Centre, Bangalore. She is the Head of the Department of Uveitis and Ocular Immunology at Narayana Nethralaya, Bangalore. She is a member of International uveitis study group ( IUSG) and International Ocular Inflammation Society (IOIS), and executive committee member of Uveitis Society of India. Her 2006 paper on Ocular manifestations associated with chikungunya infection won her the Dr. Narsing A Rao Best Paper award at USI annual conference in 2006 in Madurai. Other awards include Best Poster Presentation Award (4th National Update on HIV/ AIDS Management, Mysore, 2005), Best Paper Award (Inflammatory Diseases Section, 66th AIOS Meet, Bangalore, 2008), Dr. M.M. Joshi Best Paper Award (Karnataka Ophthalmic Society Meet, Davengere, 2009) and AIOS Narsing A Rao Award (69th All India Ophthalmological Society Meet at Ahmedabad, 2011). Dr. Rashmin Gandhi completed his medical degree from P S Medical college Gujarat in the year 1993. He cleared his FRCS Glasgow in May 2000 and FRCS Edinburgh in September, 2000. International Council of Opththalmology Cambridge Clinical assessment in 1999. He is currently the director of Beyond Eye Care.

Jay Chhablani completed clinical vitreo-retina fellowship from Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai. He was an International Council of Ophthalmology (ICO) fellow at Jules Gonin Eye Hospital, Switzerland, in 2009 and a Clinical Instructor at the Jacobs Retina Center at Shiley Eye Center, University of California, San Diego, USA (2010 to 2012) before he joined L V Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad, India as faculty. His areas of interest are macular disorders and recent imaging techniques. He has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals with specific emphasis in field of choroid. He is on the reviewing boards of all high impact Ophthalmology journals. He is on the editorial board for Indian Journal of Ophthalmology, PLOS One, BMC Ophthalmology and Clinical Ophthalmology. He is member of Global ONE network committee of American Academy of Ophthalmology. He has won several national and international awards. He has delivered inaugural Ian Constable lecture at Asia-Pacific Vitreo-Retina Society on his work on intravitreal ziv-aflibercept therapy.
Dr Vikas Khetan is an ophthalmologist who has specialized in Vitreoretina, Ocular Oncology and Ocular Genetics. He did his MBBS from JSS Medical College, Mysore and post graduation in ophthalmology from KMC, Manipal, where he was an OEU scholar. He then did his fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery from Sankara Nethralaya and also did his DNB in ophthalmology at the same time. He was adjudged the best outgoing fellow during his time. He then did a one-year fellowship in Ocular Oncology from the Hospital for Sickkids, Toronto under Drs Brenda Gallie and Rand Simpson. Following a 7-year consultancy at Sankara Nethralaya he then embarked on another fellowship in Ocular Genetics at Wills Eye Hospital, Philadelphia, USA. He has also spent time with the who’s who in Ocular Oncology including Dr Carol and Jerry Shields. He has published more than 90 articles in peer reviewed journals, 16 chapters in books of ophthalmology. He has presented more than 30 papers in international conferences and 30 papers in national and state conferences. He has given more than 50 lectures in international and national conferences. He is a reviewer of 25 Journals. He is currently the Section Editor of Ocular Genetics for Indian Journal of Ophthalmology and is also a Section Editor for Nepalese Journal of ophthalmology. He has received many awards, which includes JM Pahwa award for best paper at VRSI meeting, many travel grants for various meetings. He is the only consultant at Sankara Nethralaya to have received the best outgoing fellow, best consultant and the best researcher award. He is a member of many international societies including ARVO, ISGEDR, ISOO, APVRS etc. Currently he is working as a Senior consultant in the Dept of Vitreoretina and Ocular Oncology. Dr Khetan is also actively involved in organizing the Terry fox run in Chennai that raises funds for cancer research.

Dr. Parthopratim Dutta Majumder completed his graduation and post-graduation from Silchar Medical College & Hospital, Assam University. He completed his fellowship in Medical retina and Uvea from Sankara Nethralaya and joined department of uvea and intraocular inflammation. He was awarded with Dr. TLK Row Endowment Award for the best associate consultant 2010-11. He had received Dr. Nataraj Pillai award and Dr K. R. Dutta award for best paper. He has attended and presented paper in various national and international conferences. His areas of interest include medical management of uveitis and scleritis, uveitis in autoimmune disorders, phacoemulsification in uveitic cataracts. He is now working as consultant in department of uvea & intraocular inflammation, Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai. He has published many articles in various peer and non-peer reviewed journals.
